High point: Finally booking flights to London for spring break!
Low point: doing busy work for translation
Lesson learned: Most cheap airlines will charge for checked luggage. Sad day.
New experience: Ate garbanzo beans. No flavor unless cooked with spices, etc. Was disappointed, and I'm not planning on eating them any time soon. Sorry Mom.
Sorry to family, friends, and random people reading this blog. I was very preoccupied with getting some stuff settled for Abigail's and my trip to London during spring break. Got tickets today, so that's a stressor removed from my mind. More on London and the tickets later.
I'm going to Málaga this weekend with Joelle, who has friends living there, and have offered to take us around the town and maybe also to Granada or Sevilla, since they are in the same area; we don't know what Laura (Joelle's friend) has in store for us. I'm very excited all the same. We'll be taking a bus from Oviedo to Madrid, and catching a flight out of the Madrid airport to Málaga. We will be going to the Mediterranean coast for certain, since we are so close.
Didn't do much exciting last weekend. Spent time with Joelle and Abigail mostly. Slept in on Saturday, because the weather forecasted heavy fog up on the mountain where the Cristo statue is. We wouldn't have been able to see anything anyway, so have decided to put off the excursion for a day more promising. So, instead, we walked around town and got my mobile recharged with minutes. It was so dang easy; I couldn't believe it. At an official MoviStar store, there is a machine that asks which carrier I have, then it tells me to enter in the number and money. Once all is done and the receipt is printed, a text message comes to the phone, saying that I have recharged it for whatever amount of money. Glad that it is so easy. After that, we kept walking around until we ended up at El Periquito (literally The Little Parakeet), which is a cafe we all frequent, since churros and chocolate are pretty decently priced there. Doesn't hurt that there's free WiFi there, so we have decided to bring computers whenever our internet at our casas goes south. Went to a college student service at the church that night, too, before El Periquito. I was running around all day, thinking I'd be late to every meeting place. Thankfully we all were in the same boat, so I didn't feel bad if I were late.
Sunday was another day of sleeping in. Slept in until 11:30, so I had a small breakfast before we at lunch together. Lunch is still the biggest meal of the day, but I'm getting used to it. After eating lunch, I met up with Joelle to go to El Periquito for some homework time, but to our dismay, it doesn't open until 5 PM on Sundays. So, Joelle and I walked around the town until it opened and we met up with Abigail. Didn't actually get much homework done, but instead Abigail and I looked at plane tickets to London and tickets to stage shows we wanted to see. Today we booked the actual flight tickets, but yesterday we booked tickets to see separate shows the Wednesday we are there.
Abigail has wanted to see this new show that's just debuting in the West End, called "Love Never Dies", which is a sequel to "Phantom of the Opera", and I'm going to "Les Miserables". We're also thinking of going to see "Phantom of the Opera", since it's also playing there. And if my relations in England get tickets, they will be treating us to a soccer game and to "Hairspray", in which a cousin of mine will be performing. We're going to have such an adventure-packed spring break! We won't have time to relax!
I think you are up to speed, now! Hasta la vista!

Too bad you don't like garbanzo beans. That was going to be on the menu of your "welcome home" dinner. Oh well, I guess we will have to resort to venison. It is snowing again...but no blowing. Yeah!!
ReplyDeleteWe look forward to hearing about Málaga when you return and all the new and interesting Spanish food you ate while you were there :)!
