3/19/10

I hope you're proud of me, Dad.  I ate rabbit.  The kind you like to hunt in our garden.  Never again do I want to eat another sweet little bunny rabbit.

Going on a walk today.  It isn't raining, and it's been in the 60's or higher all week.  Joelle, Abigail, and I are also planning on visiting the "museo de bellos artes" (museum of fine arts) today once it opens up again after the normal siesta break.

Helped make tortilla a couple more times this week and last week.  Went to Gijon last Saturday for a combined young adult church service.  Very fun.

Putting up León photos later this weekend.

Abigail will be coming over this weekend also to start putting some clothes into my suitcase for London.  Good thing the single suitcase weight limit is nearly 72 pounds.  We're going to have quite a load coming back!  Can barely wait to see the Sherwins and everyone else!

Ever since Mom sent a family tree and some photos from our last trip to England, I've been brushing up on names and faces of people I'll see there.

Just found out I can see the Cristo statue from my window... when it's open.  I haven't been able to keep my window open because of the very loud construction next door.  They've been drilling into the earth to make a big hole.  As of the past couple of days, there has been no drilling action going on, which means a wide-open window.

In my spare time I have been watching The Office, from the pilot to the latest episode in season six.  I'm hooked.  How would I ever survive now without it?

A couple of weeks ago I sent out some packages, one to my cousins Bobbi Jo and Nick, and one to a friend of mine. I hope they both arrived safely to the States.

Also got a note from Emily earlier this week.  Getting mail here is like a party in the mailbox, even more so than at college.  There, at least you know you'll get your mail, but here, who knows whether it will get lost on its way through customs?

  1. Getting mail is like a party in the mailbox. It makes you feel so good...and helps you know that someone was thinking about you and cared enough to sit down and write and send a note. It was so nice of Emily to think of you. I know that you have been thinking a lot about Emily, Andy, and Jenna and have been having a bunch of fun getting some surprises for them...

I can't wait to have tortillas that you make. Are they like the recipe you have from Bonn? They are so yummy. My mouth is watering just thinking about them. When do you do it all on your own? You did a great job here...I know you can do it there too. It is really nice of your host mother to teach you.

Speaking of weather, it has been so nice here. 60's + for at least 3 days, but all the fun is going to come to a crashing end tomorrow as it is supposed to snow...:(
I am so done with snow....come on spring, come!!!

I can't wait to hear about your time in England. I bet you are getting very anxious to go. Have fun....remember pictures, pictures, pictures...love them all. By the way, where has your duck gone. I miss the pictures with him in them.

    Take care,
    Love you always,
    Mom

  2. I just posted a note to you, but it got lost somewhere in the ether. Goya was very famous also, and has a fabulous story. He painted during the Inquisition, and once painted a portrait of the Queen of Spain as she was. That is, pretty ugly. She was not amused.

  3. You ate rabbit?? So close to Easter?? Poor Peter...or was it Flopsie?
I am really proud of you, Leslie. You are experiencing life so far outside your comfort zone! I can't wait to see all the pictures and hear the stories face-to-face!
Enjoy England and seeing all of your extended family. Almost all of the snow is gone from the parking lots - hopefully we won't get anymore this year (yeah, right!)
Keep posting - I love to read them!
