2/18/10

Hola a todos!  (Hello to all!)

As you all state-side know Monday was Presidents' Day.  We over here in Europe didn't have it off, but classes were cancelled for Tuesday.  If you are just tuning into my blog, Tuesday was the international day for Carnaval, or Mardi Gras, as it is commonly called in the states.  Instead of going out on Monday night and spending money on alcohol, I stayed in and had a restful evening.

On Tuesday, though, I met up with Joelle and Abigail to begin a quest for the best quality, least expensive pizza in Oviedo.  We looked all over Abigail's and my side of town, and the places we were hoping would be open were closed for siesta.  Eventually, we found a cafe that was open AND served pizza.  Café Valentín served a few different kinds of pizza, including cheese, margarita, and meaty pizzas.  Plus they were all only about 7 euros total, and a convenient snack when split three ways.

Tonight, as usual, we have a large group meeting, but this time we are going to our usual haunt, El Periquito.  Joelle and Fletcher were in charge of setting up our meeting, so we are going to have a card game night.  During our class break, we talked about someone bringing spoons and having a spoons tournament, which would be really fun.

Today I had my first test in any class.  It was in art, and now that I've had one, I realized that I don't have to study too hard for this class.  The test consisted of several multiple-choice questions, and two short-answer.  None of the questions were very hard, and I'm glad of that.

No more news.  Hasta la vista!

  1. I showed all your pictures to Grandma L. She really enjoyed them, but said to tell you to take pictures of your parents and of the apartment you live in. She loved all your captions and the pictures of your rubber duck.

I hope you had a really fun time playing cards today with all your UNI friends. What new words did you learn...? "you got to learn when to hold 'em, and when to fold'em" :)

The pizza sounded really good. I wonder if it was like the Valentinos pizza that is in Nebraska. I think that is what it is called. Jenna always used to talk about how everyone in Neb. loves that kind of pizza.

    Love ya,
    Mom
